SWEDISH MASSAGE

Swedish massage is the most popular type of massage in the United States. It involves the use of hands, forearms or elbows to manipulate the superficial layers of the muscles to improve mental and physical health. Active or passive movement of the joints may also be part of the massage. The benefits of swedish massage include increased blood circulation, mental and physical relaxation, decreased stress and muscle tension, and improved range of motion.

Foot Massage

The practice of foot massage involves applying pressure to specific points on the feet in order to affect various parts of the body. Whether you make time for self-massage after a long day or head to a spa for a session with a certified reflexology, it won't just be your feet that reap the benefits. Adhesions in the muscle are very important to address because they cause pain, inflammation and limit motion of the muscles and joints.

The reports said that scientific research supports the connection between massage therapy and short recovery periods for a variety of medical conditions. Among the conditions that may be eased due to massage therapy are muscular-skeletal disorders, fibrillation, insomnia, asthma, arthritis and depression. Massage therapy has also been shown to reduce stress and strengthen the immune system.

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

Deep tissue massage is designed to relieve pain and muscle tension throughout the body. This type of massage is extremely beneficial because it reaches the deepest layer of muscles, fascia (connective tissue surrounding the joints) and tendons. The goal in deep tissue massage is to breakdown adhesions (tense areas within the muscle). Adhesions in the muscle are very important to address because they cause pain, inflammation and limit motion of the muscles and joints.

Chinese Tuina

Chinese Tuina is a form of Chinese manipulative therapy often used in conjunction with acupuncture, moxibustion, fire cupping, Chinese herbalism, tai chi, and qigong. Tuina is a hands-on body treatment that uses Chinese Taoist principles in an effort to bring the eight principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) into balance. May brush, knead, roll, press, and rub the areas between each of the joints, known as the eight gates, to attempt to open the body's defensive chi and get the energy moving in the meridians and the muscles.

Chair Massage

Chair massage is a style of seated massage that is typically short—10 or 40 minutes—and focuses on your back, shoulders and neck and arms. For chair massage, you are seated in a special chair with your face resting in a cradle, looking down towards the floor, with supports for your arms. Your back and neck completely relax while the therapist relieves muscle tension using swedish massage moves like kneading and compression.
